Amateur Radio License Test Session

The Nantucket Amateur Radio Association will hold a test session for those people who wish to obtain (or upgrade) their FCC amateur radio license.

When:  Saturday, April 6, 2019  1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Where: Nantucket High School, Room 105, 10 Surfside Road, Nantucket, Mass.

This session is held under the auspices of the American Radio Relay League.  There is a $15.00 test fee, payable by check or cash (sorry, no credit cards), that will be collected at the test session.  Candidates will be required to present a legal photo ID (e.g., driver's license or passport).  If no photo ID is available, please notify the contact listed below.

Test candidates are encouraged to arrive promptly at the 1:00 p.m. start time.

Preregistration is not required but is recommended to ensure enough test materials are available.

Amateur Radio Training: Get Your Ham Radio License

Have you ever wondered what amateur radio is? Would you like to talk directly with people in other countries?  How will you communicate when there is no internet or cell phone service? This course will introduce you to the exciting world of amateur radio, and it will prepare you for the FCC test for your initial amateur radio license.  Taught by FCC-licensed radio operators, this course will include radio gear demonstrations, real-life radio operation, and visits to on-island amateur radio stations. You will even have the chance to get on the air yourself!

Learn to Bird!

Join Seth Engelbourg, LLNF Naturalist Educator and Program Manager, to learn how to develop the basic skills of birdwatching!  This course will combine both in-class and in the field education and will cover the equipment and etiquette of birding, identifying birds by sight and sound, and how to choose locations to look for birds.

Traditional Bulgarian Dance
This class is for adults who would like to learn various traditional Bulgarian dances.  All levels are welcome, no prior experience necessary. Come join us for a fun-filled evening. Wear comfortable clothes, and shoes. The class is facilitated by Vessy Natcheva, a Bulgarian native, who has been teaching at NES for the past 20 years, and is passionate about sharing her heritage with others.
